Very good and sincere post. It's true that people often remember the good more than the bad after the person dies, we saw it with Nixon, with Michael Jackson and with Ted Kennedy. On that last note, (according to the Lexus-Nexus database) the media has always portrayed certain individuals in a better light for being behind a particular political party such as with the so called 'lion of the senate'.

Your observation is valid. And now we are seeing it again in the wake of Ted Kennedy's death. Dispite the fact that the so called 'lion of the senate' had been an enemy of this republic right up the day he dies, the media reflections on his life would lead one to believe that he was a patriot.

A huffer even suggested that Mary Jo Kopechne might have been glad to give up her life if she knew how her death would spur the career of Sen. Kennedy.

Beautifully said and true. I have asked this of people many, many times. It hurts to see how much people rally for a dead person who they would have bashed if still alive. People only learn to appreciate something once it's gone. If only dead people could see how much they're missed and really were loved.
